Frequently Asked Questions
At which stage are you in the production?
The first version (V1) of the “Elephants” documentary (2 hours in total) has already been produced. We are enhancing the V1 narratively wand artistically to produce a V2 ready for distribution.
We target to complete production by the end of the first semester of 2026 and begin distribution in the second semester of 2026.
Where will the movie be distributed?
We will target festivals, sustainability events, universities, and local projections in various cities (Africa, MENA, Europe, America, Asia—places to be confirmed). We will also target online streaming platforms.
What do you want to achieve with the funding?
We are now looking to enhance the documentary to make it meet professional standards: add an introduction/conclusion/transitions, add music and images, technically enhance editing, clean and mix the song, translate and add subtitles, meet format requirements, etc.
How will the funding be used?
Depending on the amount raised from individual donors and sponsors, we will prioritize essential costs over optional ones to ensure the most impactful use of available resources. Our overall objective remains to complete the film using the means at our disposal.
The funding will be used for:
- Production: covering all production costs such as purchasing licensed images and music, improving technical editing to meet professional standards, improving the quality of the song and mixing with music, correcting color footage, adding subtitles, translating to other langages (depending on budget), other enhancements, etc.
- Communication: creating documentary cover images and logo, designing multimedia presentations, preparing the press kit, building the film web page, covering the website related costs, etc.;
- Distribution: producing the trailer and pilot, organizing social media campaigns, affording all distribution fees, etc.
- Other administrative needs or Captain Forest related activities.
How has the documentary been funded so far?
So far, we self-funded the production independently with minimal resources.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Donations are NOT tax-deductible and do NOT provide any tax advantages.
How can we know how the funds have been used?
Captain Forest commits to financial transparency with donors and sponsors by sharing a financial report that shows how the funds have been used to produce and distribute the film.
Can we be informed about the impact of the documentary?
The “Elephants” documentary is an impact-driven project. Captain Forest will share an impact report with donors, sponsors, and anyone who provided support.
