On June 12, 2025, Rima Hassan returned safely to Paris after being kidnapped and detained for four days by Israel. Rima Hassan has been welcomed as a hero in Place de la République—a scene reminding “Mulan” cheered by a large crowd.

On a mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza in the Madleen Flotilla, when she was arrested with the rest of the 11 members of the crew—all peaceful volunteers—she smiled:

“When they arrest us, I will look at them as Larbi Ben M’Hidi Looked at the colonizers of his land: serene, confident of the liberation of Palestine. They are the occupiers of this land, we are it”s roots”, said, Rima Hassan.

Rima Hassan and seven other peaceful volunteers refused to sign deportation documents stating that she entered Israel illegally—it was not the case as the Madleen Flotilla was on international sea— and will be banned from returning to Israel in the next 100 years.

As a result, she was detained for two more days until she appeared on June 12, 2025, before an Israeli Detention Review Tribunal at the Ramleh detention center.

Rima Hassan is a decolonial hero. If some folks are still wondering what the relationship is between decolonial and environmental, they need to consider that the environmental crisis has its root causes in colonialism.

At a time when we still read reports spreading fear about how to feed the worldwide population in 2050, we must start looking at how to feed humanity today, especially Palestinians, how to take serious legal actions against countries maintaining starvation in Gaza, and how to deliver urgently aid to Gaza!

Rima Hassan, Greta Thunberg, Baptiste Andre, Sergio Toribio, Suayb Ordu, Mark van Rennes, Pascal Maurieras, Reva Viard, Thiago Avila, Yanis Mhamdi, Yasemin Acar, and Omar Faiad are the heroes who did more than 190 countries to bring a symbolic humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population deprived of everything.

Rima Hassan said on June 12, 2025 in Paris, Place de la République, that the Madleen Flotilla will continue its mission to deliver food in Gaza.

Let’s break the siege.

We cannot solve the environmental crisis if we do not look at colonialism first.

Bravo to Rima and the peaceful 11 heroes.
